Allowlisting Barracuda solutions

Introduction

This article describes allowlisting/whitelisting processes for Barracuda solutions and are accurate for the time of writing this article. Please refer to Barracuda's documentation for the most up to date configuration guides for their solutions. 

Allowlisting by IP in Barracuda in Email Security Gateway

We gathered and summarized these instructions based on Barracuda's knowledgebase. If you'd like to learn more about how to allowlist in Barracuda, check out this video.

In the event that you are using Barracuda's Email Security Service (cloud), please follow these steps to allowlist in Barracuda by IP address:

  1. Start by logging in to your Barracuda Cloud Control.
  2. Next, go to Email Security > Inbound Settings > IP Address Policies.
  3. In the IP Blocking / Exemption section, use the top line to enter one of our IP addresses: 193.3.183.0/25.
    (This process will need to be repeated for each IP address.)
  4. Set the Policy field to Exempt. If you'd like, add a note in the Comment field.
    For example, Hoxhunt Simulated Phishing Training IP Address.

  5. Click Add to allowlist the IP address.

  6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 for our other IP addresses 35.156.0.138 and 37.139.12.94.

 

If you are currently using Barracuda's Email Security Gateway (on-premise), please follow these steps to allowlist Barracuda by Hoxhunt's IP address:

  1. Start by logging in to your Barracuda Email Security Gateway web interface.
  2. Navigate to the BLOCK/ACCEPT > IP Filters page.
  3. In the Allowed IP/Range section, use the top line to enter one of our IP addresses: 193.3.183.0/25.
    (This process will need to be repeated for each IP address.)
  4. Set the Policy field to Exempt. If you'd like, add a note in the Comment field.
    For example, Hoxhunt Simulated Phishing Training IP Address.

  5. Click Add to allowlist the IP address.

  6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 for our other IP addresses 35.156.0.138 and 37.139.12.94.

 

Barracuda Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) 

If you are using Barracuda's Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) and have experienced false clicks or false attachment opens in the past or recently, you can set up exemptions. Setting up exemptions allows you to bypass PDF scanning for phishing training emails from Hoxhunt's IP addresses. 

To set up exemption addresses to bypass ATP PDF Scanning:

  1. Log in to your Barracuda Email Security Gateway web interface.
  2. Select the ATP Settings tab.
  3. Enter the IP addresses
    • 193.3.183.0/25
    • 35.156.0.138
    • 37.139.12.94
  4. Click Add.
