What is Inconclusive threat feedback?
Inconclusive rating simply means, that our threat analysts could not decide the category of the reported email and can't tell if the email is safe or not. This can be caused by multiple factors:
- Email contains a link which needs signing in to see the content. Email is otherwise looking safe, but because of the link our analysts can't guarantee its False Positive.
- Email contains a link which is not working anymore. Email is otherwise looking safe, but because of the link our analysts can't guarantee its False Positive.
- Email has contained an attachment, but it has dropped somewhere in the way to Hoxhunt. Email is otherwise looking safe, but because of the dropped attachment our analysts can't guarantee its False Positive.
- Email thread has been reported instead of the actual suspicious email. User has first forwarded the suspicious email to a colleague and only then it has been reported. Original senders header information is lost and thus the email might be difficult to analyse.
Inconclusive emails should be handled with caution, these can as likely be safe as malicious.
