This document provides an overview of the supported and not supported environments for using Hoxhunt across different email providers and platforms. Additionally, it highlights key requirements for each environment to ensure a smooth user experience.
Supported Environments
The table below lists environments where Hoxhunt can be used successfully.

Additional notes
Microsoft Exchange / M365 Users
Volume-licensed Outlook LTSC 2021 / 2024 for Windows
- Using Outlook LTSC 2021 with Exchange Online or on-premise Exchange Server is supported.
- Using Outlook LTSC 2024 with Exchange Online or on-premise Exchange Server is supported.
Volume-licensed Outlook 2016 / 2019 for Windows
IMPORTANT!
Microsoft has ended support for volume-licensed Outlook 2016 and 2019
on Oct 14th, 2025. Hoxhunt has deprecated its support for these two Outlook
clients end of Jan 2026, and while the support exists, it is not actively
patched nor developed. We strongly recommend to upgrade to an Outlook
version which doesn't rely on Internet Explorer runtime.
- If you are using a volume-licensed Outlook 2016 or 2019, Hoxhunt reporting experience for end users will not be seamless for end users - it is partially done outside the embedded Outlook experience because Outlook is using Internet Explorer to render add-in content (see here).
Outlook 2010 for Windows
- If you are still using Outlook 2010, you must install Hoxhunt COM add-in as Outlook web add-ins are not supported.
New Outlook for Windows
- COM add-ins are not supported. You must use Officejs version of the Hoxhunt add-in (so called Outlook web add-in).
Legacy Outlook for Mac
- Legacy Outlook for Mac uses Exchange Web Services (EWS) in Exchange Online to deliver your email. The EWS service will be retired on October 1, 2026.

New Outlook for Mac
- New Outlook for Mac may have some compatibility issues running Outlook add-ins with on-premise Exchange mailboxes. Microsoft is aware of these.

Google Workspace Users
- Web Access: Hoxhunt is compatible with Gmail via web browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox).
- Desktop Outlook Clients: When using Gmail accounts via Outlook desktop, Hoxhunt COM add-in is required. Ensure that the latest version of the COM add-in is installed.
- Mobile Users: Only the native Gmail app supports Hoxhunt via the native Gmail add-on version.
Network and Security Considerations
- Group Policies: Ensure that group policies do not block the Hoxhunt service.

Script Blockers: If script-blocking software is used, allow access to and from
*.hoxhunt.com. -
Firewalls and Proxies: Firewalls must allow unrestricted access to Hoxhunt services. Proxies should bypass traffic to
*.hoxhunt.com. - Load Balancers: Avoid placing load balancers between Outlook clients and the Exchange service, as this can interfere with Hoxhunt's performance.
